it is a lifelong experiment of having ADHD and trying to figure out how to organize the information overload in my brain. i have tried several different things before for knowledge systems, but i am trying to go back to what i know works for managing information.
- Joplin: i use Joplin for all my notes. it keeps all the information in one place, and i can sync across all my devices so i always have access to information, or have the option to edit or add more.
- keeping daily logs: every day gets its own markdown file. the notes for that day go into the file.
- adding tags: i add inline tags for information so i can easily find information on specific topics again later.
- creating outlines: i write outlines of information together in separate documents. these are living guides where i distill the information and explain and link back to external sources where i get the information.
- focusing on simplicity: i don't care about fancy features. i just want my information easy to find for myself. i struggle with processing so much information and it flying away where i can't contextualize it. keeping daily logs also helps with this. using markdown format focuses on what i'm writing, not how it looks
i have managed to keep daily logs for almost a year for work and it is highly effective. i just need to apply the same focus to my personal knowledge management too.
